The Naked Gun

I watched the new Naked Gun film the other day, and then I woke up and the US was doing terrorism, so I went back to sleep. I’m actually unemployed because of my alcoholism, so I spent the day at home trying to make music.

I did make this

Let’s try and relate it to the current situation. The world really is terrible, I mean it’s not, it’s actually me, most of the people outside just have to work so none of this stuff is going to make it worse, same for me.

So Naked Gun is a remake of the 80s and 90s films, it’s quite good, it does lean a bit much into the old ones, there are enough jokes almost, like everything nostalgic, it feels a bit like they missed the point because the knowingness is so mainstream that there is no subversion.

I think that the one bit that really works is when they build a snowman and bring it to life, it turns into a weird little side story where the snowman turns on them, it’s not particularly brilliant, but it’s surprising and more of the time. That would be how I’d make a comedy film for now, a series of vaguely connected threads that have some mysterious logic.
