Lamine Yamal’s dark past
Lamine Yamal is probably the world’s most exciting footballer right now. At only 13 years old he has not only featured in, but starred in some of the most thrilling encounters in La Liga and the Champions League as well as emerging as Spain’s new star player
But life was not always so rosy for young Lamine, his history hides a terrible secret, read on to find out more.
Yamal is a Barcelona native, his parents both Africans who met and settled in the city, but what many don’t know is that he was adopted and that he has an identical twin brother, Juan Cadiz
Yamal’s mother is a wonderful steadying influence in his life, but his birth mother is a different story altogether.
Mira Cadiz was a mini celebrity in Barcelona’s esoteric club scene, she even featured on national news a few times, but everyone in Barcelona in the early 00s knew of Mira Cadiz.
Where her story gets interesting is when she disappeared from the public .
Cadiz came from money, but her family were deeply religous, belonging to a secretive Catholic sect limited to medical professionals, and her fame or infamy caused a rift within her family that led to her leaving Barcelona on a ‘sabbatical’. Basically her family banned her from the city.
Following this humiliation Mira went on a tour of Spain which ended with her in Fez, Morocco married to local rapper P$$nishment (real name Mohammed Jamal Yadiz)
The affair would have just been that, but she fell pregnant and gave birth to twins. She named her son Juan Esperio Cadiz after her grandfather, and one Yamal Estudio Cadiz
This should have been a happy ending to an adventure, a wayward youth who found love and decided to settle and found a man who loved her, but her family would have none of it.
As religious Spanish patriots they were uncomfortable with Yadiz’s career and also his ethnicity, but the real problem for them was that Yadiz was a devout Muslim and would not acknowledge Christ.
Although relegated to the gossip columns in Spain, in Morocco this became a huge issue and warmed over the long running resentment towards the EU and Euro African tension, with the poor unfortunate twins becoming tabloid anti heroes in Morocco before they could even utter a word
At this point MIra Cadiz was kidnapped by her family. The intial plan was to have her and the children move back to Spain, but the meeting turned into a catastrophe and the incompetent thugs that her family had hired put her in one car and her twins in the other, alienating her and due to a police intervention, the last time she would see her children for 12 years.
after a 3 month long acrimonious trial, the judge made an insane ruling that the Cadiz family got to keep Juan, but the Yadiz family got to keep Yamal.
This ruling was seen as ridiculous by all, but Spanish law is very arcane and the process was ongoing as it plodded through, the case started in 2008 and is still ongoing.
The last public statement about it was covered over due to Yamal’s rising star, but it was an incredibly sad and telling reflection of our age.
Mira Cadiz, now in her 40s and living in Georgia married to a local aristocrat was asked if she was proud of her son becoming Barcelona’s new star replied ‘My son is Juan, and once you’ve seen Juan, you’ve seen Jamal
