Like with all of my creativity, I do it in the hope that someone at some point goes ‘oh, haha’ like I used to do with the internet back in the day.
So I watched that new GoT show about the tall Irish guy. I’ll just get it out of the way first that it was fucking annoying that I fell for it again, like it was fun, but then they finish with ‘and it’s going to be even better if you wait two years for the good bit’, no it won’t, it’s an over the top version of medieval England, we know what happens, the foreigners win and we end up abroad.
So let’s talk about the show
The story is that he’s an Irish tinker who grew up in the slums and got to be a knight, he’s of course the most skint of all the knights, but the rich take a liking to him because he is a nice bloke somehow, although this gets him in trouble with the bad rich people because they don’t understand why people like him. He is made to fight in a weird duel with the elite who ‘accidentally’ kill the elite guy who stuck up for him, and then that’s it, that’s the story. He gets a job as a knight at one of the big castles, it’ll be like Dune where it turns out that he’s part of a long con by the real powers, but also that something real happened,
It’s the big question eh? Like he’s the one person who sticks to his guns, and it works, because nobody actually sticks to their guns, but then the guy who trained him, and all of the old people in the GoT world who stick to their guns, they are all the exceptions to the rule. It’s like how we all know about the stories of people who went to London or USA with enough money for about a week and got rich because they were so awesome, but they are the stories, there are all of the people who didnt get into stories who went there and fucked it up. or ever they didn’t fuck it up they just fell for something. they aren’t stories because that is normal
